What people want in music

do people actually listen to the lyrics of a song or just the beat,what draws you in?

loud bass, good guitar solo, drum solo,

&I’m not sure how to explain this. but when the beat is on and off again. like it has a good beat & singing/rapping. then the music stops but the singer…keeps singing.

what I look for in music is something that I cant put like a story to in my head, or just something thats nice to listen to like…um…”lonely day” by System of a down (great song)

A tune oubviusly is the first thing that draws someone in. If you like the tune then your likely to listen to the lyrics and then take a fuller understanding of the song. Personally I listen quite carefull to lyirics, I like to know what the wiriter is feeling. But really the tune is the main hook but lyrics give it the meaning.

I like the way it sounds the most, but I don’t enjoy overly typical or cliche/ stupid lyrics, lol. I like smart lyrics (or at least okay ones, haha), good instrumentals and just a good sound in general. I tend to be very picky with singing and I find that metal bands sing best :S. Power definitely is a lure for me, lol.

I look for honesty not only in lyrics but in music (if that makes sense to anyone…might just be a musician thing :p )
