What kind of boat is best for fishing?

I would like to start saving up money for a boat for my aunt and uncle. I am doing the whole ‘’pay it forward’’ thing for them, and I am a teenager so if I could get it cheap that would be better. I found a good, small, fishing boat online for about $2,000. But, I found a pedal boat for about $750. Can a pedal boat be used for fishing? Also are there any ‘’boat tips’’ I should be aware of?

For $2000 you would not be getting a very decent ‘boat’ and I use the terminology loosely…If you shop around and have a look at ‘boats’ which are built in the 1970s you may be able to find a semi-cabin for that price range but wouldn’t be too sea worthy.

A secondhand 3.95 metre dinghy would be within your price range, nothing flashy, but adequate for river fishing but the aluminium bar as seats are not the most comfortable thing to sit on.

Also, a boat should be powered with a motor, may be 60 HP or 75HP, you cannot really get your uncle and auntie to paddle out into the river using boat oars. ;)

Remember, the larger the boat is, the more fuel it will consume so bear that in mind. Also, you will need life jackets, emergency kit…Plus, depending on how big your ‘boat’ you will need a trailer.

Paddle boat? Is that the one where you sit on it and use your legs to paddle and move the boat around? If so, then the Pedal boat is not suitable for fishing.

Tips: Insurance cost money…Trailer cost money?,… Registration for your boat and a skipper’s licence to drive any boat, (not sure the rules in the USA, but it’s all compulsory in Oz)… If you are thinking of deepsea fishing, you need a decent size angler which is way out of your financial limits.
