What is wrong with my 9yr old cat?

My cat was very ill on monday so we took him to the vets where he stayed for almost two days. They did various tests and put him on a drip. The vet said george had minor liver problems but nothing to worry about and said his teeth look bad but that too is nothing to worry about. When home george acted very timid and refused water and food. However I put this down to recovering from the drip and the sedation. But he is still acting like it this morning and wont let anyone go near his mouth. I’ve booked an appointment for him to see the vet at 6 but im wondering if his teeth are causing the problems or is he possibly traumatized from the experience as he is a very sensitive cat

Poor Kitty, I hope he is feeling better. Give him some soft food to eat, not chunky at all. You can also give Milk thistle (ask your vet for correct amount) that helps liver values get better, bad teeth do not cause liver problems so keep an eye on that. Maybe repeat blood work in 6 months. Don’t worry after the extractions he will probably do very well. Once you change foods he will be much better, I have even seen toothless cats eating dry food (must of been hard for them though) Good luck to your furry kid. >^..^<

thanks for the advice :) just been to the vets and discovered that his teeth are the cause of all the problems. so tomorow he has to have several teeth extracted and the rest cleaned and polished. He drank some water today but was still slightly sleepy. He was also a lot happier but is still refusing food. Hopefully he will be ok after tomorow :)

Sedation can affect him for a couple of days (like people, some animals are more sensitive to it, have more and longer after effects)…His teeth might hurt, simply from the Vet poking around checking them out…Are you going to have them do a dental on him…I would, since his liver and kidneys are doing ok…that might be all that is really wrong with him, he can live a long an happy life.
