What does unrated means as in unrated movie edition ?
punky is on the right track. When a DVD is labeled "unrated," it merely means that the extra content on the DVD -- interviews, behind-the-scenes films, commentary tracks -- have not been rated by the MPAA. 99.9% of the time, the movie itself will still have the same rating as it did in the theaters.
Teen-sex comedies always make a big deal out of the fact that their DVDs are UNRATED! since getting teenagers to believe they'll see their favorite starlet in a hard-core deleted scene is a more enticing selling point than an unrated interview with the key grip or a behind-the-scenes documentary where the catering guy drops an f-bomb.
most of the time, I believe that's the str8 directors cut that was never released to be rated since some of its contents would not be seen in theaters anyway. so with like horror movies and such, you get the unrated, you're probably gettin some added gore and such that they felt was bit too much for the final cut.
