What do you know about Quantumachanics?

So, I know what it is but in all of science, nothing has interested me more. So what are your thoughts on it. Isn’t it crazy how it contradics the theory of relativity? =p I just think its cool.

Well since we’re on the topic of advanced science I’ve always wondered. Let’s say you were able to travel faster than light. Traveled out far enough from Earth so that (because of space time differentials, and Einsteins theory’s about light and such, and I’m to tired to type it all out right now) that when you looked back at Earth you saw lets say the Dinosaurs. Then if you traveled back from that point faster than light, then would you arrive back on Earth during the age of the Dinosaurs that you saw when you looked back, Or in your original time?

Thank you guys so much. You’re all very insightful and knowledgeable. I really appriecitate your answers:) Thanks again!!!

Quantum Mechanics isn’t in and of itself a theory. it’s a branch of quantum physics. Where Quantum Physics deals with the big picture, your stars, black holes, ect. Quantum Mechanics deals with things one the atomic level. There are 2 prevailing theory’s in quantum mechanics. I truly only understand the first one. but I’ll tell you what I can. the first is m theory also called string theory. now for Einstein to be right the universe must contain objects of pure energy with no mass. for you math nuts out there is like in trig. sin, because and tan only work if the triangle contains one right angle(I realize this is not always true but work with me, it’s the best I could think of). same here. for his theory to work the universe must contain objects with no mass. String theory is trying to prove Einstein right. It says that strings, tiny massless rings of energy are inside every sub atomic particle. This is a vast over simplification but I really can’t spend the next hour typing. the other theory that is trying to prove Einstein wrong is by none other then Stephen Hawking. he calls it “New Math”. I don’t know anything about it but in this case google is your friend. Please don’t think I am partial to string theory just because it supports Einstein. I simply have not had time to research New Math. Though I’b be lying if I didn’t say Einstein was a hero of mine:) Hope I helped:)

we will soon be able to contact a parallel universe and teleport,oh and do you know that every breath you take contains and atom breathed out by Barack Obama(for exemple).

Answer #5

Quantum Mechanics governs the world of atomic particles, Relativity governs the world of bigger particles,

the quantum world has its own sets of laws and boundaries that is why it contradicts relativity, much like our own universe having its own sense, ie relativity won’t work in a 2d universe or any other with a different shape then ours.
