What: Are there any decent songs that don't involve effects pedals?

I need a song for my ensemble performance for GCSE; I’m on bass and my brother is on guitar. Every song that I can sort of play needs an effects pedal of some sort.

Are there any decent songs out there that aren’t too hard to play that don’t need any effects?

Pick any song even if the recording uses effects. The effects used in the studio recording are usually not even the same as used live anyway. Also, artists often switch up the effects they use on tour to experiment with different sounds. I used to do it all the time. Once I even strummed through Led Zep’s Tangerine (supposed to be clean strum) using distortion just because I was tired of the same ol’ thing. please remember that the bands that are most successful DON’T PLAY IT EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE ORIGINAL. Why be a jukebox when you can be an artist? Interpret the song your way (including effects or lack thereof) and play it confidently with attitude YOUR WAY. Compare the Beatles’”Come Together” with the cover version done by Aerosmith. You want clean (meaning few on effects)good music? Check out the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Utube a few of your favorite band performing an unplugged set and watch them confidently deliver a familiar song on an acoustic guitar with few or no effects. The effects will have very little impact or your audience compared to a tight, performance, delivered with feel and attitude. Dude, if you have to depend on the gravy to enjoy the meal, what does that say about the chef? Play whatever is the most fun and your audience will love it – with or without effects. Good luck!
