No it is different than having diabetes. It means that you are prone to diabetes if you don’t start watching your carbs and sugar intake. if the doctor says you are pre-diabetic then you must have had blood work to determine this? I am pre-diabetic and am on a special diet even tho I don’t stick to it faithfully. It also runs in my family so I really should be more aware. If you are concerned, ask your doctor to do the blood work which is a fasting test to get an acurate reading of your blood glucose and possibly an A1C test that goes back 3 months. Exercise is important if you are pre-diabetic. I hope this helps!
