They most likely used Windows Movie Maker or have an Apple Mac computer,the Apple computers have the best movie editor installed on them. He/she probably just has experience in video editing,why not ask him/her to show you how it’s done.

I am a profesional filmmaker and I can tell you that your question can be answered in a million different ways, but the best answer in order to put text on the screen and do simple narration is to take everyone’s advice and use windows movie maker. I learned on that program and it can get a simple job done.If you want to take it to a more professional level then get one of the tops editing programs like final cut pro/mac or sony vegas/windows and learn from the ground up, that is if you want to take it professional but for just a basic hobby windows movie maker or I movie for mac will do just fine any more questions fell free to ask me.

use ulead video studi, or adobe premier,, thats a very profesional productivity suite
