What would a vegan do if they became diabetic and needed insulin?

I would assume they’d take the insulin. It’s not like they’re eating animals or animal by-products by doing so.

Although insulin for use in treating diabetes used to be extracted from the pancreatic glands of cattle and pigs, it is now manufactured synthetically. . Even though the process involves the use of e coli bacteria, it is unlikely that a vegan would wish to abstain from the maltreatment of those bacteria - to do so would be rather hypocritical, since they tolerate their own internal use of them within their digestive tract - whether they like it or not. .

Actually, there are many medications that are problematic. Gelatin is in most capsules, most steroids and vaccines come from animal sources. There are many chemicals that do not even seem like an animal product that are byproducts of processing livestock carcasses. If you really investigated I think you would find that the majority of prescription medications are not completely animal free. Just like most vegans would eat animal products rather than starve they also take medications they need to get healthy. When possible they go animal free but since we live in a non-vegan world it is virtually impossible to go through they day without consuming or using some animal product. Veganism is more about making the best choices than maintaining purity.
