Ugh Periods.

HI. I first got my period last december. And as expected it has been weird and not normal yet. Last month when I got my period it lasted ten days. And a month after it hasnt come (no surprise) but now I have a lot of stuff like buggars or slime or something. There a lot so I have to wear a pad. Its not that bad but I was just wondering if this is normal. And if anyone has any advice or anything. Thank you.

Yeah it’s just discharge hun. Most people have it constantly and it’s the vagina’s way of cleaning itself but a huge increase in discharge can be a sign of pregnancy, an STI (obviously, both of these only apply if you are sexually active) a UTI/cystitis or thrush. If it’s thrush it will usually be thick, white/cream discharge with the consistency of cottage cheese and odourless. If the discharge is green then this can be a sign of gonnorrhea or other STIs and infections. If it’s not like either of these and you don’t have any other symptoms then I wouldn’t worry too much! Hope this helps x

periods can take a couple of years to become regular or ‘normal’ and some people never have them normal. The buggars or slime you’re reffering to is probably like a red blobby stuff, which is actually the built up womb lining. Dont worry this is normal, if you ever become very concerned just go check with a doctor. The only time you should be worrying is if you have any other side effects such as pains sicknes nausea, or if there seems to be a mucus colour with your period. Sometimes people are advised to take the pill if their periods are really irregular as this can help them become a regualar cycle
