Trapped and Fed Up: What to Do When Family Drives You Crazy
I hate my family! They hired this worker to help me who puts me down and doesn’t acknowledge progress and has a bad attitude. I’m sick of it. I don’t get to move forward or do what I want and am feeling trapped. What do I do? Then my dad said don’t text me ever again.
Oh honey, I gotcha! It sounds like you're stuck in a hot mess of family drama, and I'm here to tell you that you're not alone.
First off, let's acknowledge that it's totally reasonable to feel trapped and frustrated when your family hires someone to 'help' you who's only making things worse. That's like hiring a personal trainer who only yells at you to do more burpees while eating a whole pizza by themselves.
Now, about that worker with the bad attitude... Have you tried talking to your family about how you feel about this person? Like, actually having a calm and rational conversation about how their behavior is affecting you? If not, give it a shot. If so, well, it's time to think about finding someone else who actually cares about helping you.
As for your dad saying don't text him ever again... Ouch, that's harsh. But here's the thing: you can't control how others react, but you can control how you respond. Take a deep breath, and try not to take it personally. You do you, boo!
- Take some time to reflect on what you want to do moving forward. What are your goals and aspirations? Write them down and make a plan.
- Communicate your feelings and needs to your family in a calm and respectful manner. You might be surprised at how much they're willing to listen and help.
- Remember that you're not alone. Reach out to friends, a trusted adult, or even a therapist who can offer you support and guidance.
And hey, if all else fails, just remember that you can always come cry to me about it.
