I would like actual facts please. I have two cats and one of them has a knack for eating plants and i'd rather not find out there extremely toxic to late.
According to the Animal Poison Control Center by the ASPCA, cats will become mildly to moderately sick if they ingest poinsettias. Cats can experience stomach irritation including drooling, vomiting and diarrhea. The symptoms are not dangerous and can be treated at home by giving your cat milk or water to settle the upset stomach. While your cat won't die from eating poinsettia leaves, you should still keep them out of reach.
They are mildly toxic to cats. It's the sap that causes the irritation. If your cat eats a lot of it, I'd call a vet in my opinion it's better to be on the safe side if your cat likes eating plants.
