To do or not to do, that is the question.

I have been looking for a job for 2 months now and have put in over 50 application and resumes. I have a good size record and it’s only been 2 1/2 years since my last conviction. A couple of people I know that have records got jobs by saying there past was clean. The employers never did a background check like they said they where. Should I follow suit and try it there way and just risk it. I mean it would be a job for a little while right. I really need a job and I really don’t know what direction to go in.

What percentage of employers actually do there background checks?

Check with the employment office in your state and see if they have any programs or know of any for past felons.

It’s the luck of the draw. I can’t give a percentage, but some do, some don’t.

It’s always best to be honest. If your friends employers ever get wind of their lie, they will be immediately fired. When you sign an application, you are bascially swearing an oath that what you stated on that form is true.

Your background does play a big part in your employability - this is part of suffering the consequences for your actions - but if you keep at it, eventually something will turn up.
