Tiny black bugs???!!!

I have tiny black bugs on my hamster! What are they? Do they bite? How do I get rid of them???!!!

Answer #1

Oh boy fleas or ticks. Do you bring him outside? Is there a windo that stays open near his cage?

Answer #2

Oh if they are fleas get them off (safely of course) but I left our ferret with my brother years ago and the fleas actually killed her. She got fleas there and they didn’t take good care of her. (I didn’t know that would happen or I wouldn’t have left her but it did) How about a flea comb?

Answer #3

um…possibly fleas. you sound like completely psycho over it, no offence. just go to the vet and calm down.

Answer #4

Do they jump?? If so, then they probably ARE fleas…

Answer #5

they are definately fleas and yes they do bite and cause itchy marks on you and/or your hamster. Do you let your hamster roam the house? If so make sure to wash all of your sheets and clothes that were laying around. Also vacuum, vacuum, vacuum. Take him to the vet for a thorough washing and flea cream or shampoo.

My cat had fleas once. EEEWWW. good luck. (:

Yes, like Magichalo said, if they are fleas you need to get them off because they can make the animal enemic. sorry I can’t spell to save my life. but make sure what ever you do or use is ok. and look up flea;s on the internet

Answer #7

the best stuff I have found is happy jack spray that you mix in a pump up sprayer .you can by at tsc works great may take a few applications and lots of vucuuming.can not use around cats though will kill. its used for kennels and a dog dip

Answer #8

Those are most likely fleas. Most animals have them. Yes they do bite nothing painful or life threating so no need to panic… when they do it’ll sorta inch and be a light red dot. It disappears after a day or 2 though. You can get rid of them by getting flea medication. I’d call the vet and ask what you can use on your hampster for it’s fleas. I know for cats and dogs they have combs you can get that get the fleas off without hurting the animal. That’s what we use. I wouldn’t suggest getting drops since I’ve heard they can burn when you put them on the animal and you won’t be able to pet them. Hope this helped you!

Answer #9

Make sure before you treat that it is fleas you are treating and what you can use, some stuff will kill your pet or you may overdose, don’t buy any crap from walmart for ticks and fleas. Look them up on the internet and see if that is what you are seeing, after that I may be able to add more info
