im on the pill atm and I have today finished my first tray out of the box, so tomorrow I should start my 7day break, but today I have noticed blood. is this normal? I wanted to take it non stop for another just over 2 weeks as im going on holiday in 9days and wanted to skip my period for the holiday. Can I still do this or will I bleed regardless? Pleasee help, thank youu x
I wouldn't advise messing up your pill that much. I actually did do this once...it was around a week's worth of extra pills then took the rest of the pack after my bleed and it was messed up for about a month after. DO NOT do this if you are on it for contraceptive reasons and if you do decide to go ahead with it anyway I advise you use condoms for at least a month after. If you are on it for period pains it won't work and you will get your normal pains for this and the next bleed. Go to your GP and they can prescribe you a seperate drug to stop your period although I don't know how this drug interacts with the pill so you'll have to ask them that. To actually answer your question yes the bleeding is normal, eventually it will probably be a day or two after you took your last pill but for your first bleed this is normal. And yes if you carry on taking it it will almost definately stop you from bleeding until you stop taking them to have your bleed. Personally I'd advise just using tampons. I camped for a week right through my period, went kayaking, swmimming everything and it was fine honestly tampons do a great job just change them asap when you get out of water and change them at least every 8hours. Also if you've already started your bleed just let it and it should finish after about 6days (it will usually be the same length as your real period and possibly slightly heavier) so you shouldn't have it on your holiday anyway. hi yes you can carry your pill on by taking the next packet straight away. You may still bleed regardless though - some people experience spotting (slight bleeding) even when on the pill. It may go away though if you carry the pill on, likwise it might not. If you do carry it on, just take some tampons with you just in case :) and when you're back from your hols if it still bothers you see your GP. Or infact see them today if you can then he might be able to give you a different type to carry on with.
If you do decide to carry your pill on, you must take the whole 2nd packet, you can't stop after 2 weeks otherwise you won't be protected from pregnancy.
