How does the morning after pill work?

How does the day after pill work? If the condom might not have worked, is it good to take this pill? Is it safe?

Answer #1

It is best if the morning after pill is taken as soon as possible after having unprotected sex or failed birth control, preferabley within 24 hours but you have up to 72 hours to take it after having intercourse, it works by the following ways:

preventing your ovaries from releasing an egg

altering the lining of the womb, so a fertilised egg can’t embed itself there.

Answer #2

Yes its exactly that, however it is not too good to keep using the “morning after pill” too much as it will mess up you menstrual cycle. Reason being is that always a week after you have taken it, a healthy period will come on. This is just the release of the unfertilied egg due to the pill you used. However this does not apply for the Pill (normal one) as that is healthy and keeps your menstrual cycle in sync but can be dangerous after a few years as problems can occur.

Hope that helps.
