Do teens sit at home doing nothing?

My friends and relatives hate the summer break because their teens are constantly going out. Like to the movies three times a week, to the beach or the mall on the other days or having to drive them to friends houses at odd hours after getting home tired from work or having to endure their loud friends coming over to spend the night staying up until 3 am at least three times a week. Is this how a lot of teens are now? The parents feel like cab drivers. These are 14-15 year olds. Some of the parents have gone hard on them and restrict some of these activities but the constant whining and misery coming from the teens is wearing them down.

Tell those kids to get a bike and go to their friends house that way. Inform them that if they are loud during sleepovers that they can’t have them anymore. give them boundaries but don’t take everything away from them. Teens need to be active, so let them. But remember who the parent is and the teens have to listen to them

Ahaha I understand what you mean, I never excatly abused my teen years against my parents. Yes, I’d have sleepovers, go to the beach, go to a friend’s place… On occasion I’d blow money to go to sport events, movies, concerts and shopping. But I always used my own money… Well except a several times where I’d be short, my dad would spot me. But he loved how I had my own job to earn my desires! With driving around and stuff… Ha! It wasn’t always the case, my friends and I would bus to our adventures or walk to eachothers houses. But there were times where our parents would car pool :)

My brothers 15 year old daughter wakes up around 12pm everyday and constlantly texting when awake. Friends constantly in the house that my brother has to go and pick up and sometimes drop. There is not a single day that that girl will spend at the house bored. Time spent at home is planning time to go out shopping, the beach, friends houses or movies. Time spent with parents is texting time. Drive time with parents is with earbuds and iPod music listening to shut parents out. Only good thing, she got 4.0 and is an honor student.

Answer #5

People don’t bike ride to friends houses here. Things are far away and dangerous roads to bike ride. But the rest is great advice.

make them do chores in order for them to get there privileges. that way it makes it easier on the parents not havini to do much.. With the sleep overs make a tent outside for them to stay in. Dont take them anywhere at odd hours. If they wanna go out that night take them around a time that is convienent

I live in the country -im also a teenager- and i would let them go find a job also at mine i have a bus that goes through so i can catch that and see friends. Let them stay at friends houses and just have fun, its their holiday too.

Ahm, at times. I try to resist being a lump on the couch. I’m going to start driving soon, I do not sit all day at home. I model more than once a week, and I do tend to shop, eat at a fancy cafe and such.
