A teacher should teach and not be part of your social life,a teacher as a friend is creepy and wrong....and what about those that are not friends, the whole thing is open to abuse ,favouritism and an invitation for more teenage crushes on there teachers, let alone pupil hate/confusion/self loathing/lack of confidence.. for not being excepted as a friend.Any professional teacher should not be talking to any pupil out of hours and more so not be talking about any other subject than the one they teach...and to teach free in there free time is so unusual i would suspect another motive than it being good. Adults talk to adults coz we need the same mental level kinda conversation,a normal Adult does not chill out in there free time with kids and if they do or want to = weird.
I don't see really any issues with it. There were teachers I had through school that I thought were great teaches and I really liked. Most social networking sites have some control over who you can send what updates to so you might want to exclude your teachers from some :P and vise versa.
If I were to teach again, I would definitely want to do that. But I would accompany each friend invitation with a message reassuring the student that it was entirely up to them whether they want to accept or not, with no pressure.
yes as long as you accept that your relationship with them in class is different from "outside of class" :) in class/ in school you're a teacher, outside of school you're a teacher but you're mostly just you as a person.
Yes, but there has to be limitations to the information being shared.
yes as long as they dont comment on their pictures
I don't see anything wrong with it..
