Why do we talk to ourselves when it's a sign that you are insane?

Answer #1

Sometimes talking to yourself is the only way to keep yourself sane, usually we do it when no ones around tough(:

Answer #2

Awsome answer! =)

Answer #3

I don’t think that people talking to themself is being insane. I talk to myself all the time, sometimes i have conflicts that I can’t talk out with someone else, nobody will understand and know what I want more than me. I think everybody does it they just don’t want to admit it. Some people also say that because you see people, like homeless people, talking to themsels all the time and you think wrong of them, I have done it too, but what if they are just having a moment with themselfs? But this is a different situation.

Answer #4

I don’t think it’s insane it’s usually if you talked to yourself you were seen as insane or weird but I do all the time but sometimes I answer myself =/

Answer #5

Answering yourself is not that bad I do it myself all time. “ should I do this?” “ no you should not, it will be a stupid choice” ( example) you see :P

Answer #6

Lolz I see your point thanks! =)

Answer #7

It is not a sign that a person is ‘insane’? Insanity doesn’t even have a real meaning. What exactly does it mean to be insane? Self talk is a very normal thing. Pretty much everyone does it. It’s called thinking. Some people just do it out loud.

Answer #8

I agree but some people think it’s weird and I was wondering why

Answer #9

Because most people dont verbalize the self talk. So people find it unusual when others do that. Also, people who are hallucinating do this, and so it has negative associations. However, people who are hallucinating are not talking to themselves, they believe they are communicating with others (the others just arent real).
