Spider Venom Question

Please bare with me. Pre Christmas is the time of the year I worry the most, so please just be understanding. I squashed a White Tail Spider last night. (theyve got this flesh eating venom). I picked it up with toilet paper. Then half washed my hands. Then I went to the toilet, and properly washed my hands. Then later on I masturbated. But then I remembered the spider and stopped before any sperm came out. Then I accidentally rubbed my eye with those hands without washing.

My question, could the spiders venom have come out and would I be at risk after touching my self? would I be experiencing symptoms by now? plus would rubbing my eyes after touching my penis hurt them, ie if there were traces of urine, sperm or other things like that on my hands. Please dont scare me on purpose.

The venom tends to show immediate signs… In your case you picked it up with toilet-paper and did not come into direct contact with the venom. You don’t have anything to worry about. I’d be more worried about you having soap in your eye after washing your hands :P. If you can’t help but be concerned/ paranoid, consult a doctor/ general practitioner and get some conclusive information from them. You might wish to use the ‘Health’ interests forum for questions like this from now on, lol.

It is a myth that White Tails have flesh eating venom. It’s been proven that hey don’t. But it can give some people a pretty bad reaction.

However you have nothing to worry about as you’ve washed your hands plenty of times and it’s only such a small chance that any venom would get on your hands. Venom works neurologically as well so it would have to be in your bloodstream to have an effect on you.

And no, masturbating and then touching your eyes will not hurt you in any way.

From what I know about White Tailed spiders, their venom MAY cause a reaction in SOME people particularly sensitive to it, just like some people have a bad reaction to a bee sting. However, the flesh-eating bit is urban myth. Having said that, White Tails do have a tendency to carry all sorts of nasties around their bitey bits, so it is possible to get an infection as a result of the bite, but not directly as a result of the venom.

Skin contact with the remains of a squashed WT is unlikely to cause any reaction, especially as you washed your hands immediately afterwards.

As for the rest, forget it. You’re more likely to be hit by a piece of space junk. :-)

Yep, I think allergy is the real concern here because yes I too was under the impression it was a rumour.
