No.. You can put mp3 music on to an mp3 player (not ipod) from indows media player.
But for ipod to work properly you need itunes as it keeps the ipod up to date. You also need to sync your ipod to itunes to set it up properly, if it is not syncd to itunes it will NOT download music or photos or anything onto it..
I have the iphone and I've tried to sync it and download music from windows media player but it just wont work.

Yes, you can. You'll have to go into the preferences and set WMP to be the default music program (or some such) because if you've got iTunes it will automatically supercede WMP.
I dont have itunes, what are the prefrences??
