Sexual attraction is closely related to procreation. Young and healthy individuals have greater reproductive potential. Answer #8

I had a lot of great experiences in my teens and twenties, but I wouldn’t want to go back to that age again for anything. And while I still feel the appeal of youthful faces and forms (including many on FunAdvice!), the older I get the more I see the more developed inward beauty in older faces.

Wanting to look your best is fine, though not worth fretting too much about, but who says younger is better?

I think the main reason we’re obsessed with looking young is because we’re surrounded 24/7 by a huge corporate- and consumer-culture bombarding us with images of beautiful, affluent, happy young people and telling us we can be just like them if we buy 10,000 different “essential” products.

We get especially sucked into that kind of materialist addiction to “stuff” when we feel cut off from one another and spiritually and emotionally unfulfilled - and the search for happiness-by-consumption just increases our alienation.
