I'm doing a debate about social network sites being more harmful than good and we need to have a speech ready by tomorrow. I'm still doing research and i need some help on 1. privacy- other than hacking into peoples' accounts, how can people access other users' privacy on the internet? (like 'loop holes')- and 2. cyber bullying. thanks!
Well a lot of people don't realize how much information they are putting out there on the internet when they are playing with social networking sites. Facebook keeps changing what is private and whats not, and all of a sudden information you thought only your friends could view is now searchable for anyone on the internet.
I found a website once where you punch in someone email and it shows gathers information about them just from various social networking sites and forums. It was scary how much information there was out there about me. I promptly went and changed a lot of my security settings on just about every site that has information about me. Sadly though I didn't book mark the website and can't seem to find it again.
What you could also mention is that a lot of people are desperate and then they fall into traps where they give people who they think are honest and deserving money and then find out later that the person they were helping didn't even exist.
Well, its the internet its open to the whole world and there are many nasty people in the world that wouldnt think twice of trying to hurt you. Theres one point I cant think of anymore right now as Im going for tea :)
And cyber bullying why would any give a f*** wat some nerd across the country says.
identity theft, cyber stalking,
