Singer or actor?

I am trying to get myself known for acting and singing. I am 13 and I really want this. 9I sometimes get scared about it but I know I can do it and I really want to do it.

Can you give me pointers on how to get rid of my fright and to find a way to get know? Please. Thanks.

You will never completely get rid of stage fright. Never look into a crowd, look just above their heads, right in the middle. Find a local community theater and join. Watch for local or nearby auditions and start going. Get a headshot, and an agent. Acting, voice, and dance lessons would be a HUGE help.

yeah, im a dancer and have done a lot of theater I enjoy it. its hard to deal with the fright, but with more experience and learning a lot more will make you better and make you more confident…which will lead to less fright, its not going to completely go away though. But yes! do take as many acting, singing (opera? great singers and rockers started as opera singers…its the hardest but makes you the best), music, and dancing (musical theater, jazz) classes, those are all needed in theater. Maybe some technical production and playwrighting things too!

Besides doing every acting class and in middle school and high school. (and dont think cause you got parts in middle school, it will happen in high school, or if in hgih school, it will happen in the real world. I’ve seen high school leads get shut down in indie films and on broadway and hollywood). You should look into out of school classes and also summer programs. Summer intensives are held at colleges, look at their websites and also look into Governer’s school(offered for sophomores and juniors in high school). Ask your guidance counselor at school about it. It’s a summer program with the top teachers in the nation and is just like college! you get to major in acting or singing and take a minor in any fine arts classes like dancing or guitar! It’s the best things to put on your resume, believe me I’ve recieved three scholarships for fine arts, and I definitely give the credit to Gov. school!

But seriously, take any opportunity that is given to you, big or small! dont always stick with what is comfortable (not all comedy, make sure you get all the above, because at a casting calls they will all be different and want someone who may be able to play multiple characters), you need to be diverse in everything you do! Good Luck!
