Unfortunately your not really supposed to format flash memory cards. It screws up the memory allocation and you might lose up half the memory or more. I know cause I tried it once and lost 1gb on a 2gb SD card. man I was bummed.

There may be a format utility from Sony or Sandisk [ or whoever the cards manufacturer is] however I would research to see IF your card can be formatted. My suggestion is to move all files and perform a defrag on the card to free up memory. If that don’t work, buy another one cause the one you got might be breaking down. It does happen, I’ve lost 2 due to degradation. Cheap piece of S#!t…
