What does it mean when you shake uncontrollably?

Last night I woke up about 4 in the morning, shaking uncontrollably. I was thrashing around my bed like I was having a seizure and I couldn’t stop myself! It was so scary. I couldn’t speak at all… and it was very hard to breathe. I couldn’t even get up off my bed till the episode calmed down. So I got up and went to the restroom to wash my face, and I had another episode of shaking nonstop. The feeling is horrible…. what does this mean? What’s wrong with me? It lasted for about an hour last night till I was finally able to go back to bed.

Answer #1

That would be a seizure. Most likely anyway… honestly you really really should check in with a doctor soon, because it could be risky.

Answer #2

I was a tad cold though… It couldn’t be because I was cold, right?

Answer #3

It could be, but shaking uncontrollably usually doesn’t happen in bed… I mean, that happens to me, too, but only when I’m in class and somewhat cold. I agree with Drew; you should check in with a doctor.

Answer #4

if you were cold, you might twitch, but you wouldn’t shake uncontrollably for this long of a period of time

Answer #5

If you had a seizure, which is what this sounds like, you need to see a doctor as soon as possibly. Especially if you’re saying that it lasted for the length that it did and based on the symptoms, you need to get checked out by a doctor. Better safe, than sorry. Good luck, feel better!

Answer #6

tell ur parents and go to a doctor!!

Answer #7

That doesn’t sound at all like a seizure … aside from the “shaking”, you were conscious and aware of what was happening, you didn’t report having any signs that you were about to have a seizure, and it lasted more than an hour, and you lived to tell about it? As an epileptic, myself, I would have to say that what you’re describing is not a seizure … see your doctor about this.

Answer #8

what position are u in when u shake?

Answer #9

Have you eaten? sometimes when u shake its because you havent eaten in a while, other times it is because ur having a muscle spasm. Also i would ask ur doctor if u are a diabetic. maybe ur not getting enough sugar.
