What does "sadistic" mean?

1. The deriving of sexual gratification or the tendency to derive sexual gratification from inflicting pain or emotional abuse on others, or being abused by others.
   This would include things like needle play, blood-sports, knife play, whips, racks, sensory deprivation, and other forms of torture.

2. The deriving of pleasure, or the tendency to derive pleasure, from cruelty, just as above for pleasure.

3. Extreme cruelty, term used to describe acts of cruelty beyond what is normally accepted by the general public. May be sexual or revenge based, and can result in injury or sometimes death.

Someone who is sadistic gets pleasure from inflicting physical or mental pain on others.
