How do you put your ipod into disk mode? what does that even mean?

in short, disk mode is just a way of using the ipod as a storage device to store more files… to put it into disk mode: you need to press and hold a few buttons to reset it for around 10 seconds… for the 1g to 3g its the menu and play/pause buttons - for teh 4g its the menu and the select button which is in teh center so hold these down for teh said few seconds to reset…. now as soon as the apple appears let go of the reset button and press and hold the fast forward and rewind buttons.. your ipod should now be in disk mode.. if it is itll tell you once its back on. to take it out of disk mode just reset it again.
