After having several run ins with poison ivy thru the spring and summer and receiving 3 total prednisone shots (1 per month) I had the best facial skin appearance I have had since I was 12. im 26 years old and been battling acne for a long time...I've never had completely clear skin until receiving these shots...about 8 weeks removed from my last shot and my face is breaking out again like crazy...I went to my pcp but they refused to give me a low daily dosage - have you ever heard of anything like this before? I suppose its the anti-inflammatory effect of the medicine that releaves my cystic acne - what chances do you think I have of getting a dr to believe me and give me a prescription for it?
Hi, yes I've had it a few times and you feel great on it but as far as I know you can't take it long term, it's a cortisone / steroid and your body makes its own, but it'll mess up your body's balance if you keep on taking artificial doses. Also bad for the body high doses long term. I'm no expert, but it's something like that.
Uhm, ok, prednisone is not something to fool around with (and also, it is a steroid, so weight gain does occasionally happen...). If you are unhappy about acne, why dont you try a dermatologist? Who will give you stuff that will help with your acne? Instead of asking doctors to put you on steroids?
