You need iTunes to interface with your iPod. iTunes is supposed to be able to work on any supported Mac or Windows-based operating system, so if its not working, try re-installing it (http://www.apple.com/itunes/) or if that doesn’t work, let us know what version of Windows or Mac OS your computer is running. I don’t think iTunes works on Linux, but I would think its unlikely you’re running that.
