right, protect the people, just like the US government protected the people on 9/11. or the London bombings I don't think you can come up with one valid reason where the harboring of secrets will "protect" anyone but the people who created these secrets. also dude, you're cannon fodder (aka soldier) so you yourself have no idea whats going on.
Because it's a breach in national security. Information that is classified by the United States Government (USG) is classified because it can cause either exceptional damage to the US and its people, or grave damage to the US and its citizens. The spillage of that information to WikiLeaks puts American lives at risk.
Because it exposed things the US Government would rather keep secret. Although, not everyone hates WikiLeaks for doing that. I for one, think it was a good idea, they keep way too many secrets from the citizens of their country.
The only secrets the US Gov't keeps from its citizens are the ones the average citizen can't be trusted with. Honestly, what's to keep ONE American from deciding to sell secrets to the enemy?
However, not everyone hates Wikileaks. Some say that wikileaks will give US Government a lesson to be more careful and for most to be honest with the policy they make.
Sorry, The Informer, but as a member of that government, I can honestly state that we classify information to protect the people, not ourselves.
Governments have this habit of sweeping embarrassing things under the rug by classifying them as secret.
