Why do people like comments that say stuff like LOL, LMAO, and similar?

I’m not trying to be rude to the people that do do it. I’m just curious why they do it. its happened to me a couple times. When i put lmao and people will like it on here, and Facebook, and YouTube. I just don’t get it because anybody could of thought of it

Answer #1

Maybe they liked it because they lol’d or lmao’d too? or there isn’t any point writing LOL out when the previous person has already done it.

Answer #2

Well i’ve mainly noticed it’s the cheerleaders and people who have more then 800 friends, and then people just usally like it because they like that person or it has to do with an inside joke.So the people in on it would like it.

Answer #8

It’s called chatspeak, and using lmao and lol set the mood for conversation. Reading straight text in friendly conversation looks way too serious without those kind of words.
