I dont know the name but, what’s the meaning behind this nursary rhyme??? One, two, buckle my shoe Three, four, shut the door Five, six, pick up sticks Seven, eight, lay them straight ??? it seems like every nursary rhyme has a bad story behind it! WAIT… there is mary had a little lamb too! What’s behind that one?!?!?

Answer #1

OH!!! thnx I really needed an answer to that!! I got confused! All I need now is Mary Had a Little Lamb!!

Answer #2

The lamb was actually owned by a young girl named Mary Sawyer, and it did actually follow her to school one day.

The poem (or song) was written by John Roulstone as he was present at the time this happened.

Answer #3

This one actually isn’t so bad. It’s about lacework:

One, two, buckle my shoe: refers to the lacemaker getting ready in the morning

Three, four, shut the door: the lacemaker closes the door to the shop to begin work for the day

Five, six, pick up sticks: the sticks are wooden pins

Seven, eight, lay them straight: the way the pins are placed on the fabric

Nine, ten, a big fat hen: which is a pillow that holds the lacework

Answer #4

its just a way for little kids to remeber how to count numbers =/
