Need help with my guitar

I don’t know why but when I try to tune my guitar it goes all weird. Like it’s okay for five minutes then it gets out of tune. I don’t have an electrontic tuner or a tuning fork so normally I just use relative tuning or tune it to the piano but that doesn’t seem to help. This has never happened to me before. What should I do?

Answer #1

you might need new strings

Answer #2

It happens when the strings are either very new, or very old. Maybe you didn’t string it properly (I.e. tight enough) either?

Answer #3

Agree with both of the above. New strings will tend to stretch for a day or so - particularly cheaper strings.

But some guitars, when you tune down, the strings don’t fully slack right away, and they’ll lose tuning after a few minutes of play.

The trick then, is to always tune UP instead of down. Alternately, if you do tune down, pull up on the string a little to get rid of any slack.

If none of that works, you may be doing something wrong. Does your guitar have a lock down that you’ve neglected to loosen while tuning? Have you checked the truss rod to make sure there’s not something wrong with it?

Answer #4

if you just re-strung your guitar, go up and down the neck bending the strings (like you were playing and bending a note). this will stretch out the strings

it may also be the tuning keys. they may be pieces of junk and dont stick. the only way I know how to fix this, is eitehr go buy a new guitar or get new tuning keys

also, the piano could be out of tune. haha

if this doesnt work, funmail me and ill see if I can help anymore

Answer #5

Perhaps its the strings, or maybe its your piano? lol It might be that the strings arent tight enough so after you play for a awhile it just goes out of tune. Im not sure though this has never happed to mine either!

Answer #6

You probably need new strings. And if they are new, they need about a days time to stretch so tune it throughout the day when you can
