Why would I get hurt swimming in the Pacific Ocean?

I’m looking for the nearest holiday destinations to Britain where I could swim in the Pacific.

I already live in Britain, I want to swim in the pacific and want to know the nearest holiday destination I could fly to FROM Britain to achive this dream.

I realise we are talking 1000’s of miles here, all I’m looking for are some countries that border the Pacific. Specifically, the closest countries to Britain.

EG. Mexico might be one answer, I am fully aware that it is 1000’s of miles from Britain but even so, it may still be the CLOSEST holiday destination to Britain that is bordering the Pacific.
