Ok, I have a very long history of very bad health, including conjested heart failure, a heart 3 times as big as a normal heart, and a heart with a very weak squeeze. I have been told by doctors that any surgery I have done I only stand less than 25 % survival rate. I have good news and bad news...good news, I finally got a surgeon to give me an actual date for the gastric surgery which I really need to have, but the bad news is I have to get a cardiologist to give me cardiac clearance. My appointment for this "clearance" is on the 29th of this month. {my surgery date-if he says yes- is on oct. 22} im scared he will say no. does anyone think {I know that no-one will know for sure} he might possibly say yes, or do you think im just wasting my time? All opinions are welcome.
lonlygurl, my heart goes out to you, but you will surely not live through the anesthesia, much less the surgery. And I can't imagine that any doctor will give clearance for the proceedure. Congestive heat failure and a low refraction rate(squeeze) is not going to allow an honest cardiologist to say okay. There must be other things you can do to help you digestion or lose weight, which ever reason you needed the gastric surgery. Good luck and God bless you.
it really depends on your situation and statistics. If you are in such bad health surgery can sometimes make it worse ( I'm sure the doctor has explained all this to you anyway). It's really in his hands, a proffesionals hands to decide the safest route possible for you.
Whatever the decision, he will only be thinking about your health so try to keep strong in knowing he is helping.
