As review for school, I was asked this question for homework.
58-d=38
How do you isolate the variable?
Your objective is to isolate "d"; the opposite side will end up as a number, which will be what "d" is equal to. Remember, whatever is done to one side must be done to the other. Start by subtracting 58 from both sides. This will leave you with " -d = -20 " But, you want the value of "d", not "-d". To find that, just multiply both sides of the equation by -1. You will end up with d = 20.
This checks out: 58-d = 38 is 58-20=38.
Hope this helps!
easy subtact 58 from 38..since 58 dsnt fit in 38 you will get a negative humber...don't divide by one anythng divided by one equalled the same number!
u subtract 58 and then you divide by -1 and ull get your answer.
d=28
