How can I get this thing to shut up!
Although, birds need the darkness, the blanket is what I always use. Actually, a sheet is better because it is breathable. A mate is fine, but remember, if it is pitch black dark. Any little noise or creak in the house, floors, cages, etc... Could set the bird off. I always found that if I left a little bit of light on, or a night light. They stopped flapping around a lot, and were not as timid. Also, it is a very good idea to make sure that at least an hour or so before you wish the bird to bed, that you maintain a more calm atmosphere for them. This way they are not pre-hyped prior to shut eye. If this doesn't seem to help calm them down, evaluate their needs, proper food, water, cleanliness, misters (For bathing) and millet for treats are some good ideas. Interaction and talking with them during waking hours will also bring a bond between you and the bird, thus when all else fails. You might even talk softly to them, calm them down more.
Temporarily you can cover the cage at night with a blanket which will usually quiet them down enough to get some sleep. Long term solutions involve a lot of positive attention for the bird, soothing music, or a mate (preferably another bird).
our bird is a parrot and believe me theres a bird that will never shut up, unless you go and pick him up luv him a little and he'll be quiet, even a black black blanket wont stop him from screetching his lungs out!!
Parrot? Lol, deprive him of his toys for awhile and have a danger word before you do like well "no" then take all his toys away and cover the cage.
Hi,
Cover your bird's cage with a dark blanket, making it dark under there. He/she will think it's nighttime and go to sleep.
Good luck.
thanx for ur answers but i think my birds a demon because he still yells and screams under the blanket
get rid of it or get a new one or something
Shoot it.
