How long does it take to quit smoking weed?

A friend of mine is trying to quit smoking weed and he seems to think he’ll be completely off of the drug by monday, which means he’s gone 9 days without smoking. Does it really only take that long to quit smoking? I thought it would have taken weeks, maybe months… But he thinks 9 days is enough

Answer #1

It takes however long u stay committed to it. It stays i will ur system a month. But u can quit when u quit. Not just say u quit for one day or a week then start again. Thats nkt quitting. Itz when ur committed for life

You quit when you stop smoking it. Depending on how fit you are, it will take anything from a week to a month or 3 months to get out of your system. but some of it will always remain. It sticks to your bodies fat cells so unless you have 0 fat in your body (in which case you die..) You will always have trace amounts if they do a fat check (VERY RARE) mostly it’s a urine or blood test. in which case 1 week - 3 months as I said. It will stay in your hair until the hair is cut beyond the point of where you smoked. (Such as if your hair was 10” long.. and smoked.. and it grew more, you would have to cut more than 10” of your hair off for it to be gone. I could type a lot more but it is 2am here and I’m going to bed. If you would like more info from me about it, leave a message on my profile and I’ll tell you more.

It can take forever, because that stuff is made to addict you.

There are two questions here. Joshua answered the 1st and it has to do with passing a drug test. The 2nd has to do with staying completely away from the weed. IF you are simply abusing weed (and many people do) - they like it socially but can also leave it alone - you can quit almost anytime and shortly can do without it. IF YOU ARE AN ADDICT you will never be completely free of the pull. Once the addiction kicks in you will need help in staying off the drug. That is where MA (marijuana anonymous) can be a (free) route to assist you. If you are not yet ready to quit, fine. Enjoy. If you are ready, then give someone a call. They will pick you up. Take care, and Good Luck!!

Answer #6

There is no addictive chemical in marijuana so it’s much easier to quit than nicotine. On the other hand, some people become psychologically addicted to substances and may use marijuana as an emotional crutch. As long as you’re determined, you can quit easily. It may be harder if he’s around it a lot, like if his friends smoke around him and pressure him to keep smoking. But hopefully he can meet his goal and quit. Good luck!
