How long do you think it'll take for Benadryl to wear off on my dog?

I didn’t give it to her, the boarding place did. I think they gave it to her yesterday & for the past 4 days but shes just so out of it & not the same, it’s sad. :c I didn’t even know dogs can have benadryl.

Answer #1

They are allowed to have it, that being said it might not be all that good for her. It should be out of her by a day. If not, it might be something else and you should take her to the vet.

Answer #2

Well it might be something else because one of her nails got ripped off & i’m afraid it’s gunna get infected cos it’s been red & bleeding. Shes also limping on the other paw & lost some weight.

Answer #3

It could be the infection that is causing the delirium. Take her to the VET, her body might be poisoned from her sore nail.

Answer #4

Vets suggest using over the counter benadryl to dogs alot! Any drug or treatments can side effects! Some sideffects off benadryl are drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, loss of balance. It sounds like the dog was pawing at the wire cage door. Boarding stresses animals out alot. The dogs will bark and paw ALL DAY LONG. If it is a front paw that is probably what happen. Sometimes an animals behavior when it is stressed can cause it to inflict harm to it’s self. Most dogs don’t like being kept in a small cage for an extended period of time! The stress from the stay probably caused him to loose his appetite as well causing the weight loss.

Tho, I don’t believe it is right for a boarding place to begin drug therapy without getting consent from a owner or vet first! They should get into trouble for that
