How long can wet kitten food stay good after opening it?

I’m weaning my kitten so she only eats about 3 teaspoons a day. I have a small packet of kitten wet food that I opened Thursday afternoon. Was wondering how long it can stay fresh? They don’t tell you on the packet.

3 - 4 days, I free feed and it does last quite a while, if you add a little water, it will last even longer.

Thanks. I was also thinking once she gets onto her cans I can cut the leftovers into chunks and freeze them. Cause just chucking really wastes alot.

My guess is it does not stay fresh as long as human food due to the programmes i have seen on TV about the meat they use, most cat/dog foods meat is not fresh when tinned…its usually the remains of processing the stuff for us and can be stored and transported differently to human food.the thing is it can also be what has gone out of date for us meat, they are allowed to use it for animals, they do not just throw it away. So i would say an opened tin re-sealed in the fridge for 2 days max(take portion out 1 hour before cats feed time in order to warm up a bit to room temp)

When you open a tin just separate into daily portions and freeze it?

Yep, that’s what I’m going to do. I emailed the company to ask. They said if canned food is stored in a sealed container and put in the fridge, chuck it after 3 days. But I’ll definitely be freezing portions.
