Lighten/take away scars?

I'm getting my lower lip pierced tomoro morning, it'll be a 1.2mm bar. Will it leave a noticable scar when I take it out?

I'm guessing it takes a while? Because I only see older people with them and don't get them after I pick on my pimples.
