To everyone reading this, please please please help me out... I am in great trouble.. Had joined mba in an institute...(via correspondence) a year back.. Couldn't complete it there properly since the services they porvided weren't good. I had to face a lot of problems like, mu admit card was delayed, materials never reached me on time...(we had three months to sit for an exam, and the materials reached me only after 45days)... I wanted to discontinue the course as I was not satisfied and I even wrote an e-mail to the ssd..but they gave a cold shouler to me... I had already payed 3/4th of the total amount of the course..and didn't want to pay anymore since I had stopped the payment and my materials were also not being delivered now. But these people started sending me all threatening e-mails and leagal notices at home saying, if I fail to pay them the remaining amount...they will take some legal action against me... One thing I couldn't understand is... When I already discontinued the course , and since I had stopped the payment they didn't send me anymore materials, why am I supposed to pay them and for what? I am not taking any services from them now!
Don't understand what to do...
When I had enrolled for the course...I got no time to check everything written in the prospectus, the terms and conditions... Since it was the last day of enrollement... I signed the papers and gave my a/c no. Too... Now thats becoming a problem...
Please help me out somehow because I have already started my mba course from a better university and I don't want to get into any trouble in between of my course completion...

The best option I can think of is getting a layer. You stopped attending the course, and they obviously got a notification of this or else you would've had the materials, so you shouldn't have to pay for the rest of it. Umm... another option I can think of is if it goes to a collection agency ( like most things around here do ) they will call you. They usually only have one person working on your case.. so that person is who you would have to talk to. Most of the time around here they are willing to help you. I know this isn't the same as your issue but I had some guy break into my apartment last year that created $3 000 in damages + made me lose my job and home. I had to wait months before I could go to court so the bill went to collection. The lady at the collection agency was mean to me at first. Threatening me and saying that they would take legal action, and so on. After a few times of her harassing me everyday with phone calls I finally picked up the phone and started freaking on her. I told her everything that happened, (the guy that broke into my apt. didn't get charged for ANYTHING!! So that $3 000 that I don't have has to come from me... and why? Because some guy broke into my apt. ) After that pleasant conversation she was nice to me. She helped me a lot, even though I still had to pay a lot of the charges... she was able to remove most of them. Maybe this could happen with you as well? But also with my method, It's prob. not the best having it go threw collection. Anyway that's all I can think of. All the best to you!!
Not familiar with the laws of your country - Talk with a Lawyer about possible options or maybe you can find a Consumer Advocate organization that can help you resolve this matter...I wish you the very best !!
I agree with above.. you're going to need to handle this with a lawyer. The school should have an easy way for you to get your money back if you are not satisfied just like any business.
In the U.S. there are Consumer laws that protect against collection harassment - check to see if there are any such laws there and what you need to do...Take care !!
am not intending to get my money back if they don't wish to give it... but atleast I shoudn't be harrassed that way...it is so much disturbing!
