Do you think it should be legal that in order to become an eagle scout you are required to sign up for the draft?

You also must claim god is your all and savior or your not able to get your eagle scout. I just find the whole orginization terrible.

No I don’t think that should happen. I am a eagle scout, and made eagle before my 16th birthday. I did not have a clue at that time what I wanted to do with my life, but I do not think being forced into the military would be a great intensive to go into scouting. I think scouting does wonders for the boys and also keeps them off the streets. I did go into the Army when I was at legal age and this did get me a extra E grade.

Everyone is required to sign up for selective service after turning 18. I suppose eagle scouts are simply required to follow the law here.

Considering the Boy Scouts of America proudly discriminates against girls, gays, and people who don’t believe in God is it any surprise they expect their young men to be cogs in the military machine?

I have two scout and I do not expect them to join the military, nor do I think it is discrimination if the group is call Boy Scout is for boy and Girl Scouts for the girls. There are schools that do the same thing, I do not think this is a bad thing. on the reset of the stuff you stated I feel it is more like the military, don’t ask, don’t tell. The military will not let announced gays in, nor if I was gay would I want to go in. I saw some major discrimination of gays in the military.

Yes. They’re a private organization. If they have certain religious beliefs and certain restrictions, then by all means that is their prerogative. They deny membership to homosexuals, they deny membership to females, and they deny membership to atheists and agnostics. That’s their right. If you dont want to raise your children up with those narrow minded and bigoted beliefs, you dont have to let them join.

the last draft was on December 1, 1969, and if you ever tried to enlist you will find that now there is a long waiting list for some MOS’s plus there is quit a few applicants that are rejected now for minor inflictions on their backgrounds. Why would you what to single out the Boy Scouts for selective service?

Because my boyfriend is an eagle scout and we were speaking about what he had to go through to get that.
