What kind of herbs can we use to avoid mosquito bites?

I am afraid of using any anti-mosquito’s lotion for my 3 year old daughter.:)

Skin So Soft also makes a mosquito repellant but I don’t think it works as good as the stuff u out in ur bath

I think i read somewhere that having a plant of basil & rosemary by the windowsill or around the house will keep the mosquitoes away.

Then again, if the blood she has is the type a mosquito craves they will find a way to bite her either way…the only you can do about that is rub some aloe vera gel over them to stop the itching…or as we do, simply grow the plant in ur backyard.(it grows very well and simply needs a bit of water at a time.)

I too have that issue with mosquitoes…i hv a stick in my room for swapping them…(annoying because they are full of my blood) pretty much all i can think of that u can do!

you can rub a bit of the basil leaf on ur 3yr old, maybe it will make ur kid smell of italian food but its worth a try

well it works for me and well, she should at least try it on her kid, i mean well she did ask for what herb right :P but for me i use the Areogard cuz i have no kids :)

Try skin so soft moisturising cream. Its also a mosquito repellant and actually feels good on your skin.

I wasn’t sayin don’t try it I was just basically sayin everyone is differant and it may not work that’s all

You can make a catnip spray to keep mosquitoes away. Eating lots of garlic also helps keep them away.

I am not entirely sure what about it does this, but mosquito hate lemongrass, so a lotion made of that would do wonders (speaking from personal experience, ymmv)

Burning citronella oil candles is a good way to make them run away… Also mosquito repellent patches can be used.

My father, he does smth crazy, when he gets a bite, he doesnt care about smelling weird so he sprays some of his deodorant & sprays a few variety of his colognes on the bite itself…he totally swears by it…says it stops the itching & fades away after a few hours…by morning it’s history! (personally I like the fist way better i hate smelling like some weird combo of colognes…makes me sick.(just my opinion) :P
