(whatever it's called when you hit the button on the top right)
Thats because its not a "sleep" button and pressing it doesnt save your battery. All that button does is lock your ipod so that the buttons cant be pressed when you arent using it - just like when you lock a cellphone so you arent pocket dialing. Your battery is still being used because the ipod is still turned on. If you want the battery to last longer turn the ipod completely off when your not using it.
If your Ipod is more than two years old then the battery is going bad. When it is new you hardly notice it the battery loosing power. After two years or the three year mark, even if you completely shut it down at night, and if the battery was full, when you wake up it will be almost dead.
If you have and Ipod touch, if you are connected to Wi-Fi, it is draining battery to stay connected.
Mine does that too. Try switching it off (hold the lock button and the menu button down together) until the screen switches off. I found it saves battery.
in think that is just the lock button, you would need to hold down the play button to turn it off so it saves power.
Because when it's in sleep mode, it's not fully off. It's kind of like a screen saver on a computer
