I've been emailing this woman for a while - stupid idea it turned out to be - and now she says she know's I'm not who I say I am.
Only thing is, I am. So what does she mean? I'm an alien from the planet Zorg? Oh, and apparently, I'm playing a game, which is news to me. Could someone help me? Can discuss more through funmail.
xx
The sad truths about flame wars are thus: 1) The chances that you're ever going to convince someone to embrace a differing point of view is almost zero. 2) With the luxury of not being face to face with the person, all semblance of humanity quickly goes out the door. 3) Once the anger kicks in, one quickly realizes that they can't actually do any real harm to you, and so petty threats and insults get called into play.
As a result of numero 3, every flame war eventually devolves into "I know where you live" and other such petty, pointless, and untrue boasts. I see you've arrived at that point.
She's just confusing. I think she may be mentally ill - that's why I kept answering her, because I was afraid she would harm herself, but now it's getting ridiculous.
This email was out of the blue, so I don't know what set it off...either way, I'm going to tell her I am who I say I am, and if she doesn't want to believe that, then fine. What else can I do?
well, I'm sure she's just worried about your identity and giving out info to someone who may not be who they are.
be understanding, and ask her what you can do to convince her.
no, she's not crazy, it's normal for someone to doubt someone else's identity on a website.
just be understanding, but make sure you don't give out any personal information !!
I think you should add address to your junk mail and ignore her. You never know if she says who she says she is either.
Tell her shes crazy and say your going to stop talking to her. After a while she might believe you and email you back.
