What instrument is more difficult to learn - a guitar or a violin?

well it depenns on which one you are more skilled at and wich one is more intresting to you if the guitar is boreing to you then the guitar would be more diffficult to learn cause you wouldnt have the excitement to learn i play the guitar-keyboards-piano-bass-vocals-and sing-and do the lyrics on my track recorder i love writteing songs !!!! about whatever

well ive never used either instrument but i want to learn one or the other and i want to know which would be more challenging when a person is trying to teach themselves

That depends on your determination.

The violin is an orchestra instrument. Most people use it to play classical orchestra music. And you need a lot of practice to play that reasonably well. If you want to play complicated classical music on a guitar, that will be just as difficult.

But you can do a lot of other things with guitars: You can sit on a campfire and just rhythmically hammer down the chords of “home on the range”, you can buy an E-guitar and make vaguely music-like distorted noises that remind people with a vivid fantasy of guitar chords…

Old 1970ies-rock music… you can learn to accompany “Lady in Black” by Uriah Heep on a guitar in 10 minutes. And you can call it “being able to play the guitar”. That is - of course - much easier than learning to play concerto guitar.

I think both are equally hard to learn. Although the violin in easier on the fingers. You need strong fingers to be able to push down the strings hard enough to get a great sound. That’s where I failed. haha.

i htink guitar is the most difficult. i learned the violin in about 3 days

Violin appently it take a few year to actully just it right

I have talented music classes with both guitar and violin players and violin seems way easier but you have to have a good ear in music…

If your teaching you self defiantly the violin because you have to get you finger in the right place or it sounds horrid.

well it really doesnt matter you can learn both, it be easier if you learn how to read music

I kinda play the guitar. I mean I can play chords and sing along. I can’t play melodies and solos on a guitar. I never had a music teacher either. I taught myself.
