You and your family are from a different culture than mine, so this might not apply.

As a parent (I’m a father of two) I know that all teens are going through a turbulent time, and they often say things more for effect than with any meaning. Especially girls. I would believe that was just my daughter disagreeing with me and trying to express that disagreement in a forceful and shocking way (again, going for an effect). I would also reopen the conversation later after all had cooled down in order to see if there was something to be added. Something I didn’t realize or something my child hadn’t considered.

Teens often think that parents live to keep the kids under their thumb - we don’t. We just have heard of (and done and seen) a lot of scary stuff and we want to keep our kids safe from that.

Parents often think that their teens are still unthinking carefree kids - and they aren’t. They are developing adults. You don’t know a lot but you are learning.

The important thing is communicate. And remember that your parents judge how responsible you are starting with the small things. Doing what you say. Being honest. Who your friends are.

The main thing to remember is that your Mom loves you. Good Luck!!

I would feel hurt and worried and upset and disappointed that I wasnt a better mother.

Answer #4

Hurt, frustrated, afraid, angry, worried…

I’ve been there already - I wouldn’t wish it on any mother.
