Is it realistic to change my career path?

this question is for those adults who have been there-through the struggle of college and aspiring to be something of worth. I am currently an accounting major and this is my junior year. I recently have been thinking about dermatology. random I know, but does anyone know the paths I would need to take? is this realistic? I am going to get in touch with some local colleges but some personal feedback would be great! thanks.

just do it go for it take a risk, you’re still young maybe you should finish your accounting mayor and then start on dermatology, that way you have to dergrees under your belt

Answer #2

You are only 20 so you have lots of time.

How are you paying for school now? If your folks are paying the way they might not be supportive of a major change after they paid for 3 years of college. If you use student loans than you have to keep in mind that becoming a dermatologist is a long road and you arleady have a debt load. To get into medical school you will need a high grade point average and high MCAT scores. Plan on taking chemistry, biology, and biochemistry classes to prepare for this test. Assuming you get into medical school (and it is competitive, my brother finished his pre-med degree with nearly straight A’s then didn’t get into med school) you will study another 4 years in medcal school then do a year of internship before you can be a dermatologist.

I’m not trying to discourage you; I know medical doctors who have taken this long road. I just want to give you some more information.

What ever you decide best of luck!

Hi,

I think it’s great if there’s something else you’re interested in and you are going to follow that interest. You’d be miserable if you followed through with Accounting if you don’t have passion/interest. Anything is realistic if you want it bad enough and put your mind to it.

Contact your local colleges and see if there’s a program. Talk to your parents if they financially support your education.

Good luck!
